Neurological
Conditions

If you are suffering from particular symptoms but are not sure what type of treatment might help, please browse through the list below to help identify what treatments might be beneficial to you. Then book an appointment >

Eye Checkup

BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo Dizziness and vertigo often involve some level of nausea. More severe cases may involve headache, sweating, heart palpitations, ringing in your ears, inability to hold your eyes still, vomiting, and a feeling of being unable to sit up or stand.

Centralise pain

Centralised pain, chronic pain and persistent pain is commonly due to an increase in the ‘volume knob’ in the pain pathways in the nervous system – both the brain and spinal cord. When pain comes from the brain like this is also called chronic primary pain.

Depression

In functional neurology, we look for the root cause of your depression and rehabilitate that rather than just medicate the depression, gut health is a big part of the neurotansmitter serotonin production. Most of the serotonin found in your body is in your gut (intestines). About 90% of serotonin is found in the cells lining your gastrointestinal tract

Dysautonomia

Dysautonomia refers to a class of conditions involving poor function of the autonomic nervous system. Dysautonomia can develop from traumatic brain injuries, viral infection, and other types of autoimmune conditions.

FND

In functional neurology, we support FND by finding the changes to your brain's "Default Network" and as people with FND have been told; there is nothing wrong with the hardware but a glitch in the software, Functional Neurology "reflashes" the brain default network software

POTS

Tachycardia, dizziness, fatigue, pain, shortness of breath, anxiety nd more can all be symptoms of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

Vertigo

Vertigo is a sensation of feeling off-balance, spinning or generally unstable.

Brain Fog

Brain fog is one of the most common signs of a leaky blood brain barrier and chronic brain inflammation. Reduced brain function is also a common sign.

Concussion

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI), also known as concussions, are impacts to the head that interrupt the normal function of the brain.

Dis-coordination

Cerebellar dysfunction causes balance problems and gait disorders along with difficulties in coordination resulting in ataxia, uncoordinated movements, imbalance, speech problems(dysarthria), visual problems (nystagmus) and vertigo as a part of the vestibulocerebellar system.

Dystonia

A neurological movement disorder characterised by continuous or intermittent muscle contractions which cause abnormal, often painful, repetitive movements in any region of the body.

Gut brain axis

Or leaky brain can cause reduced mental ability, difficulty concentrating or multitasking, short and long-term memory loss, collectively referred to as brain fog, via prolonged activation of mast cells.

Tics

Tics and Tourette's: There are many overlapping features between functional tics and tics of any etiology, including classic Tourette syndrome, both can be a hyperkinetic basal gaanglial disorder, sudden onset can be neuroautoimune.
