Chiropractic
Treatments
Chropractic is beneficial for lower back pain, neck and mid-back pain, arthritic pain, headaches and migraines, arm or leg symptoms, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries.
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession concerned with the relationship between structure (primarily of the spine) and function (primarily of the nervous system) as that relationship may affect the restoration, preservation and promotion of health and well-being. Chiropractic principles recognise the inherent recuperative power of the body.
what to expect
My goal is to eliminate any concerns you have about how I can help, the following explains your first few visits and hopefully changes common misconceptions about treatment.
Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. I’ve found the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!
The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy. It’s as simple as that.
So, check us out here. look around. Get to know us. Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you.
first visit
Paperwork
You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way! Your First visit will include a greeting from our Chiropractic Assistant (C.A), who will give you some paperwork to fill out, don’t worry it is only 1 page long!
Comprehensive consultation
The Chiropractor will meet you and take you into the room to discuss your problem. Careful questioning to gleam the important information about what is wrong and how it is affecting you.
Thorough Examination
This is followed up with physical testing (orthopedic tests), neurological tests and palpation tests (touching the spine or area that is affected).
Neurological patients will have a complex and detailed Neurological examination, but don’t worry it is non invasive and non painful. It is designed to bring out your neurological problem so that a rehabilitation program can be designed for you.
If deemed necessary an x-ray or MRI may be requested.
If you have a new acute injury, there will be some treatment on the first day.
If you are a chronic patient (had the problem building for a while) you will be given some pretreatment advise (icing, stretching, exercises) and your next visit will be the first treatment/adjustment day.
Allow for 30 minutes for your first visit.
second visit
Report of Findings
Your second visit is called your Report of Findings, the Chiropractor will give you a detailed explanation of your exam and your treatment plan to come. The Chiropractor will take time to ensure that you understand what is wrong, how it happened, and how long it will take to fix.
This is a Healing Process
From the start you will understand that this is a healing process which takes time. Not a quick fix/once off adjustment/treatment. There are a lot of ideas out there about Chiropractic and what it fixes and how long treatment last for. The Chiropractor will explain all of this and then you will start your first treatment
Neurological Exercises
Neurological Exercises are quite complex and you will not leave until you are happy that you understand and can perform the neurological rehabilitation exercises.
Allow 20 minutes for the Report of Findings and 10 minutes for the treatment.
Our assistant will then make your next planned appointments and take payment by cash or Eftpos/Creditcard.
Your Regular visits will not be as long as your first or second visits to Koru Chiropractic.
Bracing
Spinal braces, also known as back braces, limit motion, stabilize weak or injured spinal structures, and prevent the progression of spinal deformity. Inconjunction with vestibular rehab, cerebellar coorination and core/trunkal strengthening mild scoliosis can be improved
Chiropractic neurology
Chiropractic neurology is a sub-speciality of chiropractic practice. There are currently 11 specialities recognised by the Chiropractic Association. A chiropractic neurologist diagnoses and treats a range of disorders affecting the nervous system. The therapy a chiropractic neurologist prescribes does not include drugs or surgery.
Low level laser therapy
Laser Therapy is a new treatment option we now offer in our office! The laser goes into the body's tissue and speeds up the healing process by generating new and healthy cells. It increases blood supply, decreases inflammation, stimulates nerve function, and relieves acute and chronic pain.
Massage
Our practice refers out for massage, we only work with the best therapists in town.
Structural rehabilitation
Structural rehabilitation of the spine aims to repair structural problems such as scoliosis. It will deliver a long-term remedy that will enhance your wellbeing, lessen pain and suffering and fix difficulties to the point that you will no longer require ongoing treatment.
